The enemy

The fighting in the Archangel area was primarily between the Allied forces and the Bolshevik Red Army which often included other leftist pro-revolutionary groups and anarchist groups.

The main objective of the Allied campaign was to push the Bolshevik Red Army back down the Dvina River while the anti-Bolshevik forces of the White Army push up from the south and east. The White Army was a loose confederation of forces aligned against the Communist government that included conservatives, pro-monarchist and army generals.

The Bolshevik Red Army captured a lot of Russian Army equipment including Aircraft and gun boats.
